No Pulitzer Prize in Fiction this year

In SLS News on April 17, 2012 at 1:47 pm

The Pulitzer Prize board has decided that no one made the cut in fiction this year, provoking much ire. The nominated novels were Train Dreams by Denis Johnson (Farrar, Straus and Giroux), Swamplandia! by Karen Russell (Knopf), and The Pale King by David Foster Wallace (Little, Brown). I haven’t actually read these yet (although my bets would be on Denis Johnson, whom I dearly love–no offense, DFW, I’m sure The Pale King is great, but it’s also, you know, unfinished.) And, I mean, I’m just the lowly editor for this blog; it’s not really my place to say whether or not this decision makes sense. It does seem rather surprising, though. What do you think?

Here’s some info on the award winners this year.

It’s official!

The Skidmore Literary Society was just approved as a club by SGA. We’re extremely excited! Thanks to everyone who has supported us in helping to achieve this. We think Skidmore will be a better place for it.
